The Sweet Sommer Story

The Old Sweet Springs Resort was first written about in the late 1700’s.  Kings, Queens and Presidents have traveled to this beautiful mountainside for the therapeutic hot springs and refreshing cool sweet springs.

In 2003, Warren D. Smith, a real estate developer from Virginia fell in love with the area and made the commitment to restore the resort to its original glory.

The property is the home to free flowing high quality springs.  Noting the quality of the water on the property, Local residents and travelers to the area remarked about the “special” taste of the water at Sweet Springs.  Mr. Smith decided to bottle the spring water and make it available to everyone. 

While the challenges of a bottle, label design and bottle size would keep Mr. Smith busy, a name for the premium water had been determined.  The naturally sweet spring water with the perfect balance of calcium, magnesium, and potassium, would be called SweetSommer. 

SweetSommer was derived from the middle names of Warren Smith’s daughter and granddaughter.  Sommer is Warren’s daughter’s middle name and Sweet is his granddaughter’s middle name.
