SweetSommer Water

The way water should be.

Sweet Springs is the oldest, most permanent, and most interesting of the watering places of Monroe County, West Virginia.  It is also the site of the award winning springs that are part of the Peters Mountain watershed and is the source of supply for the SweetSommer Water Bottling Company, who bottles natural spring water for distribution.  The bottling company features both fresh mountain spring water, with no additives, and the highly acclaimed mineral water, which is naturally carbonated and rich with minerals.  Both mountain spring water and mineral water are marketed and labeled under the name of SweetSommer.

The first settler of record was James Moss who reared his log hut near the mineral spring in the year 1760.  No doubt, these springs were there at the time and became the water supply for the famous resort of “Old Sweet Springs” which began its origin in the late 1700’s by William L. Lewis, who obtained patent on the property in 1774.  Guests, including US Presidents, Kings and Queens traveled from all over the world to indulge in the mineral water famous for its healing powers.

In September 2005 the property was purchased by Warren D. Smith who is in the process of renovating the resort to include a PGA quality golf course, state of the art conference center, health spa, skiing and many more recreational facilities.  Please visit our Resort website oldsweetsprings.com for more information.
